January Meeting / Get Together
Where: Qube Visual (Map)
When: 5:30pm, January 30th, 2005
Coordinated by: Bret Edge & Brent Doerzman
The January get-together/shindig was a great success! We had a wonderful turn-out of 60+(?) CNPers. We all got to place faces with names and catch up with old friends. There was talk of gear and techniques, printing and framing, and of course, anecdotal, sometimes exagerated , stories of trips into the field (past and future).
Print, Portfolio and Equipment Sharing
Many brought prints, transparencies, portfolios, calendars and other current projects to share and discuss. Others brought equipment and gear to show off and play with. Michelle gave a fantastic matte cutting demonstration. And the amount of interest it generated certainly warrants a workshop in the near future. And can you believe it? Erik came away with a borrowed, workable 4x5 system!
Door Prize Raffle
Thanks to the diligent work of our gracious host, Brent Doerzman, we received some generous prizes for a give away! Qube Visual provided $25 Gift Cards, Camren Photographic donated a camera bag and multiple multi-tools, Denver Pro Photo donated a couple camera bags, the Art Wolfe Gallery (located in R.E.I.) donated a couple books, Dave Rodenbaugh donated one of his wall calendars, and Todd Caudle provided wall and engagement calendars for all!
The print exchange was also a huge success! Due to lack of planning... Um, let's call it spontaneity. We made up the rules as we went along. But none the less, the "White Elephant" exchange generated laughs from the "stealing" and "Oooo's" and "Ahhh's" from the incredible images on hand. Of course, after it was all over, I was informed of the "real" rules for a White Elephant Exchange. So we'll know how to do it right next time... I'm sure it will be just as fun!
Many great images were submitted for the slideshow. Bret set it up to run continuously, and this was a nice place for folks to hang out and talk while checking out some beautiful photos.
Wow! People brought tons of food and drink! Many pitched in $$$ for pizza. A big "Thank You!" to everyone who contributed!
Conclusion and a general thank you...
It's the people that make CNP what it is - a fun, learning, sharing environment. I feel privileged to be a part of it. Thank you to everyone for making this a group we all enjoy.
